Tour Overview

Escape winter and join us when we visit Singapore, the ‘Lion City’.

Regarded as the Gateway to Asia, Singapore is an ever-changing island city state filled with diverse experiences. It is a modern cityscape incorporating a mix of colonial and ethnic influences from its varied multicultural population.

We explore the vibrant cultural precincts, from Little India, Chinatown and Kampong Glam each with its own unique flavours, smells, sounds and arts. A hosted home visit to meet two local families is a highlight where we learn about what it is truly like to live in Singapore.

This tour will also coincide with the world’s premier tropical garden show – the 2020 Singapore Garden Festival. Launched in 2006, the festival showcases exciting garden designs and exquisite floral creations. It features over 50 designers from 19 countries under one roof exhibiting more than 400,000 plant specimens. Typical designs include landscape gardens, fantasy gardens, balcony gardens and more.

During the eight-day tour we’ll also visit Singapore’s only UNESCO World Heritage site - Singapore Botanic Gardens and National Orchid Gardens, enjoy breakfast at a local market, high tea at the iconic Raffles Hotel, visit the National Museum of Singapore plus experience the exciting sights and sounds of Sentosa Island.

We have also included a visit to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel where you can view Singapore from the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck, soaring 57 levels above the heart of the city. From here we take in the stunning Marina Bay, the world-class cityscape, the architectural wonders of Gardens by the Bay, a 100-hectare park that could have come straight from the imagination of JRR Tolkien.

There is time for leisure or to explore further afield, shop ‘till you drop’ or lay by the pool. We’d love to have you join us in this beautiful multi-cultural city with its fabulous gardens.

Most of the cities and towns visited on this program can be explored by coach, where walking tours are relatively short and generally on the flat and all hotels have lifts with easily accessible rooms.
All our programs naturally involve some walking in order to discover better the places visited and, although we arrange porterage where this is available, participants are expected to be able to handle their own bags. Our program leaders will always try to make as much of the program as possible available for those who find walking longer distances, uphill or down steps difficult but, in same places, this cannot always be avoided.

If you have any concerns at all about your level of fitness, please do not hesitate to talk to us and discuss further with the experts who know the particular demands of each program.
